Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Materials Optimization Specialist to join our manufacturing team. The primary responsibility of this role is to analyze production orders and determine the optimal selection and allocation of material rolls to minimize scrap and waste during the manufacturing process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Pull raw material for manufacturing cells
  • Organize raw material inventory
  • Analyze upcoming production orders and their material requirements
  • Select optimal material rolls from inventory based on size, quality, and specifications
  • Create efficient cutting plans that maximize material utilization
  • Track and document material usage and waste metrics
  • Coordinate with production planners and floor operators to implement optimized material plans
  • Monitor material inventory levels and identify opportunities for consolidation
  • Research and recommend process improvements to further reduce material waste
  • Generate regular reports on material efficiency and cost savings

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in manufacturing, inventory management, or materials planning
  • Proficiency with inventory management software and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to prioritize multiple orders and adapt to changing production schedules
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and material requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in manufacturing industries that utilize roll goods (paper, textiles, plastics, etc.)
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
  • Experience with ERP systems and inventory control
  • Mathematical aptitude and ability to work with dimensional calculations


Salary Range: $18.00/ $22.00  Hourly

Basic computer skills
Communications skills to develop prospective customers and maintain current customers
Ability to work entire sales process from prospecting to close
Knowledge of or ability to learn about products used in body shops.
Experience in the industry a plus, however, not a requirement.
