NWT (clean & polish lightweight) is our most popular non-scrim backed non-woven. The general purpose non-woven is light resin and light grain material used for light removal and better finishing. It offers a moderate scratch on metal, which is perfect for cleaning and blending. Non-woven abrasives consist of random nylon fibers bonded together into an open web, and impregnated with resin and abrasive grit. Advantages of non-woven abrasives include a consistent finish, long service life, cool cutting, and soft, yet fast working action. They are waterproof; can be used wet or dry, and easily rinsed out. Coolants, lubricants, and cleaning agents can also be used with a non-woven. With its ability to reduce loading, non-woven abrasives are excellent for paint or coating removal. The product utilizes Kling-on, KLINGSPOR’s version of hook & loop fasteners. The soft and fuzzy backing (loops) attaches strongly to the rough side (hooks) of a tool to prevent slippage. This type of backing is reusable, tear resistant, makes changes quick and easy, allows the abrasive product to run cooler, and more.
